PRINCETON, N.J. — The LIU women's water polo team traveled to Princeton on Friday night before it participates in the Convergence Tournament in California next week.
The No. 21 Sharks hung in with the Tigers in the early stages of the match. Princeton took a 3-1 lead into the third period but goals by
Diba Peiravani and
Ale Aranguren tied it up. The Tigers responded with a goal late in the second to regain a one goal lead. That would seem to be enough for Princeton as LIU was unable to come back and tie it up and it fell 8-6.
Aranguren led the team with three goals.
Elena Camarena,
Sydney deVroedt and Peiravani all scored one.
The Sharks return to the pool on Friday against Pacific at 3:45 p.m.
