Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Fla. — Saturday was an impressive day for the LIU softball team as they went 2-0 on the day defeating Boston College 9-1 in six innings in the first game and then FGCU 3-1 in the second matchup.
In the first game, LIU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with RBIs from
Priscilla Gillies and
Dallas Andrews. Boston College got a run back but it would not matter as the Sharks kept their barrage of runs coming, scoring five runs in the sixth inning.
Lindsey Cowans had a great day on the bump, striking out five in six innings and recording her first win of the year.
In the afternoon game, Alyssa Polemani started the scoring for LIU with a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Kaylee Clarkson added another run ton a sac fly in the seventh to give the Sharks a three-run lead. Three straight singles and a run scored looked to give FGCU a fighting chance in the bottom half, but
Alyssa O'Donnell worked out of trouble with runners on to give LIU its second win of the year.
The Sharks return to the field Sunday morning at 10 a.m. when they take on Georgetown.
