FORT MYERS, Fla. — The LIU softball team wrapped up its season-opening trip to Florida when it took on Big East opponent Georgetown on Sunday morning.
The Hoyas jumped on the Sharks early, scoring six in the opening two innings. LIU fought back, scoring four in the third thanks to a wild pitch and RBIs from
Lily Hinkle and
Kaylee Clarkson. The Sharks would be within striking distance, only down two in the fourth but Georgetown would shut down the comeback scoring two more runs in the sixth as LIU fell 9-6.
Devon Medina went 3-3 with an RBI. Clarkson drove in two and
Priscilla Gillies drove in one.
Mari Narvaiz went 2-3 with a double.
The Sharks return to the field on Thursday when they take on San Diego in the San Diego Classic at 8 p.m. est.
