STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The LIU football team wrapped up the 2024 season with a 35-28 win over Wagner on Saturday afternoon.
Dual-threat quarterback Ethan Greenwood scored the first two touchdowns of the game to put LIU ahead 14-0. Greenwood's first score came on a 56-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter to give the Sharks a 7-0 lead.
Backup quarterback Chris Howell then connected with Greenwood for a 64-yard touchdown to extend the Sharks' lead to two scores.
Wagner responded with a rushing touchdown of its own to cut the Sharks' lead to seven, but that did not last long. Michael Love returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, pushing LIU ahead by two scores.
Greenwood added his second touchdown of the game in the final minutes of the first half, giving LIU a 28-14 lead at the break.
Ludovick Choquette would then punch one in from two yards out to give the Sharks a commanding fourth quarter 35-21 lead.
LIU's 35 points marked a season-high, surpassing the 31 points scored against Robert Morris in Week 8.
Cory Nichols led the Sharks in receiving with three catches for 76 yards. The Sharks finished the game with four sacks. Qualil Lumpkins totaled 10 tackles to lead the LIU defense.
