BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about on Sunday afternoon, securing a 63-52 win over Cal State Fullerton in the team's first win of their 2024-25 campaign.
Fresh off leading the NEC in blocks last season,
Amaya Dowdy rose to the occasion for the Sharks and turned in her best outing of the young season. The senior led the way with 24 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field, to go with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Sirviva Legions also chipped in with 10 points for LIU.
LIU bested Cal State Fullerton on the boards 39-32, scored 40 points in the paint (compared to the opponent's 18), and took command of the contest in the second half, outscoring the Titans by a score of 39-25.
The Sharks will complete this homestand with an upcoming game against Rider on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
