Fleur Hofman Named NEC Defensive Player of the Week After Leading LIU to Back-to-Back Shutouts

10/22/2024 10:24:00 AM

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Fleur Hofman has been lights out for the LIU field hockey team, and that's a big reason why the Sharks' goaltender has been named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Hofman led LIU to two straight shutout wins on Oct. 18 and Oct. 20 in the Sharks' 2-0 and 5-0 wins against Saint Francis U and Stonehill.

"A well-deserved honor after an incredible performance, securing two consecutive shutouts this past week," said head coach Mike Pallister. "Fleur's ability to make game-changing saves and command the defense sets her apart—doing things that few others could under pressure. Her quick reflexes, sharp decision-making, and leadership have been instrumental in our recent success. This personal recognition is also a reflection on the strength of our team defense, with everyone playing a part in keeping our opponents off the scoreboard."

The Sharks bring their two-game shutout streak back to Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium Friday at 1 p.m. against Rider.
