Noah Rupprecht notched his first collegiate shutout and the LIU men's hockey team routed Stonehill for a second straight day.
The Sharks extended their winning streak to four straight games with a 10-0 victory against the Skyhawks on Saturday at Northwell Health Ice Center.
The 10-goal margin of victory established a new program record — topping an eight-goal win against Stonehill on Long Island last season.
LIU, which won 8-2 on Friday, swept the back-to-back games. The Sharks have now won all four meetings between the teams this season. The teams meet another four times before the 2023-24 season concludes.
Rupprecht, a freshman goaltender from Thief River Falls, Minn., improved to 4-0 in his young college career. He made 16 saves in Saturday's victory.
LIU pounced on the Skyhawks for four first-period goals.
Preston Brodziak opened the scoring 3 minutes, 48 seconds into the game. Zary then scored twice, followed by
John Gormley with 1.1 seconds remaining in the first period.
Xan Gurney's first collegiate goal opened a 7-0 lead early in the third period.
LIU returns to action next weekend when it hosts Alaska Fairbanks on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.
