MALIBU, Calif.— The LIU men's volleyball continued its tough west coast trip to start the season when it traveled to nationally ranked Pepperdine on Saturday night.
The Sharks and Waves went for punch in the first set with the Waves coming out on top 25-23.
LIU was on fire in the second set with the help of some great plays by
Kale Spencer,
Gio Collazo and
Roei Horovitz, the Sharks would go on to win the set 25-22.
Unfortunately for LIU, its second set win woke up Pepperdine as the Waves rattled off two straight commanding set victories to win the match 3-1.
Kale Spencer was the leader for LIU in kills with 10.
Chase Celichowski and
Gio Collazo followed with six kills a piece.
Roei Horovitz was the team leader in assists (23) and digs (nine).
Kasey Clouet led LIU with six total blocks.
Arthur Sueur recorded a team-high three service aces while also tallying three digs, three total blocks and an assist.
The Sharks will return to the court on Thursday when they take on St. Thomas Aquinas at noon.
