MANHATTAN, KAN. — The LIU women's volleyball team took on another tough power five opponent when they traveled to Kansas State's home court on Thursday night.
The Sharks started off feisty in the first set, gaining an early and hoping to set the tone for the rest of the match. Unfortunately, Kansas State's home court advantage was too much and LIU fell in three sets 20-25, 11-25, 10-25
Bria Plante led the Sharks with four kills on six attempts while also adding two blocks in the match.
Celine Mukura and
Amaris Smith were tied for second in kills with three a piece.
Sibana González, who has played in each of LIU's last eight sets, recorded her first kill on the season and tallied three digs.
Alasha Colon added to her NEC-leading dig total with nine and scored her fifth kill on the season.
Selina Koç led the Sharks in assists once again with 11.
"When we put together our schedule, we knew that the first four weeks of the season the competition was going to play at an extremely high level," assistant coach
Daniel Altamar said. "With each team we face, the team is starting to find its identity as we prepare for conference play."
The Sharks return to the court Friday afternoon when they take on Rice at 2 p.m.
