BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Noa Bartels van Bosbeek provided the heroics on Sunday, scoring the game-winning goal in the 87th minute as the LIU women's soccer team defeated host VMI, 2-1.

A day later, Bartels van Bosbeek was recognized as the NEC Rookie of the Week as well as an NEC Prime Performer.

A freshman forward from Spain, Bartels van Bosbeek leads the Sharks with two goals and five points this season.

Her other goal came in her collegiate debut, when she started and scored the final tally in a 3-0 season-opening victory at Saint Peter's on Aug. 17.

LIU (3-2-1) enters conference play on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Stonehill.
