CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The LIU rowing teams had an exciting weekend at the prestigious Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta to close the 2022-23 season.

The Sharks raced in the men's novice 4+, men's lightweight 4+, women's novice 4+ and women's varsity 2x.
 
"Going into the race we were going for the race experience, to be able to go up against some pretty notable programs and test our skills," coach Jaclyn Smith said. "Our women showed up and exceeded all expectations of a first-year program. Not only did both boats make their way to the semis, followed by the A final, but they both fought hard and competed well."

The women's double finished fifth and the women's four was able to learn from their row in the semis to top some crews that had an edge on them earlier in the weekend to come home with a silver medal.

As f or the men, Smith added: "The men worked hard and gained a lot from their races. Both programs are excited to pick back up in the fall exactly where we left things off and are hungry to continue to get stronger and faster."
