TEANECK, N.J. — The LIU women's lacrosse team will head into the Northeast Conference Tournament off a decisive victory against Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Sharks closed the regular season with a 14-6 victory against host FDU on Saturday afternoon.
LIU produced a 5-3 record in NEC play. The regular-season-ending victory lifted the Sharks to the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.
LIU will face second-seeded Wagner on Thursday. The tournament will be hosted by Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn.
Against FDU, the Sharks scored the game's opening seven goals and built an 11-1 lead on
Francesca Vasile-Cozzo's goal with 5 minutes, 28 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
Lluna Katz contributed a hat trick and
Leah Nonnenmann,
Olivia Fantigrossi and
Julia Trainor had two goals apiece.
