HAMILTON, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team concluded its record-breaking season after its 9-1 loss to Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Sharks, which made their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance after clinching the NEWHA championship, put up a battle against the Badgers inside Class of 1965 Arena.

NEWHA Goaltender of the Year Tindra Holm, also a National Goalie of the Year semifinalist, made 50 saves against the Badgers.

"I am extremely proud of this team, there is so much to celebrate. Our senior class and inaugural class made it to the NCAA tournament in just four years. There is so much promise for this program," said head coach Kelly Nash.

Sarah Rourke scored the Sharks' lone goal after she received a behind the net feed from Maggie Culp in the second period.

"We played hard and we battled. I am so proud of this group. We have a lot to smile about and we are looking forward to what the future has in store," said Sarah Rourke.

Carrigan Umpherville finished the game with a team-high three shots on goal.

LIU finished its year with the program's first-ever 20-win season.
