BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — A big win against Saint Francis U in the Northeast Conference opener has led to a pair of top weekly conference honors for the LIU women's lacrosse team.
Goalie
Lily Bilello has been named NEC Defensive Player of the Week, while
Julia Trainor again has claimed the NEC Rookie of the Week honor.
Bilello, a junior from West Islip, made a career-high-matching 11 saves in Saturday's 16-7 win against the Red Flash. She turned the goalkeeping duties over to teammate
Mylie Norton with 3 minutes, 11 seconds remaining in the victory.
Trainor, a freshman midfielder from Billerica, Mass., produced her first career hat trick and had four points in the victory. It marked her fourth NEC Rookie of the Week honor this season.
Additionally, Bilello and teammate
Leah Nonnenmann were named NEC Prime Performers. Nonnenmann contributed three goals and two assists in the win against Saint Francis U.
The Sharks return to action Saturday at noon at Merrimack.
