Four Sharks Produce Hat Tricks as Women's Lax Tops Saint Francis U in NEC Opener

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Four different LIU women's lacrosse student-athletes produced hat tricks and the Sharks got off on the right foot in NEC play.

LIU defeated Saint Francis U, 16-7, in the conference opener at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium as Leah Nonnenmann, Julia Trainor, Olivia Fantigrossi and Lluna Katz produced three goals apiece.

Katz and Hannah Kenneally scored 17 seconds apart less than three minutes into the game and the Sharks never trailed.

Kenneally finished with team-high five points (two goals, three assists), as did Nonnenmann.

Francesca Vasile-Cozzo had two goals and two assists.

Lily Bilello made 11 saves before turning over goalkeeping duties to Mylie Norton late in the game.

The Sharks return to action next Saturday at noon at Merrimack.
