CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — The LIU equestrian team started up its spring season Sunday at the IHSA Show hosted by Adelphi and had a successful day, finishing as the high-point team.
To start the day in open over fences,
Anna Perlow took the win.
In Intermediate over fences
Gretchen Persan was second,
Bianca Törnecrantz third and
Kathryn Gargiulo fifth.
In limit fences,
Julianna Tag and
Emmaree Hernandez took wins, with
Emily Lonegro and
Adaryn Docherty taking second,
Abigail Clarke,
Kristin Balser and
Isabella Lomonaco taking third,
Lizette Kelly and
Hailey Ceglinski taking fourth,
Emma Wagner taking fifth and
Helen Chimbos taking sixth.
During the second half of the day, in open flat,
Sam Koeppel took fourth and Perlow took fifth.
In intermediate flat,
Peyton LaFrenz and
Julianna Tag took wins, with
Shelby McKie and Lomonaco finishing third.
In limit flat,
Paige Mather,
Alyssa Buback, Docherty and Clarke took wins, Törnecrantz,
Brooke Keen,
Megan Rodier,
Lizette Kelly and
Sarah Stayton took second, Ceglinski took third,
Kristin Balser took fourth, and
Juliana Lingner finished in fifth.
In novice flat,
Tori Cohen and
Alyssa Kolesnikova took wins, with
Emily Yonkes taking second and
Sarah Forster taking fourth.
In introductory,
Amanda Esposito and
Rhiannon Bradley took wins, Tara Lauther took third and
Abigail Zwilling fourth.
The Sharks return to competition at the Pratt Institute Show, which will be held next Sunday at Jamaica Bay Riding Academy in Brooklyn.
