No. 20 Nanooks Take Opener of Four Straight vs. Men's Hockey

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU men's hockey team will certainly get an up-close look at Alaska Fairbanks, facing the 20th-ranked four times over the next week in two different time zones.

The opener meeting on Friday at Northwell Health Ice Center went to Alaska Fairbanks, 5-3.

Goals from Austin Brimmer and Noah Kane 121 seconds apart in the first period had staked the Sharks to a one-goal lead. However, the Nanooks produced the next three goals en route to the victory.

An empty-netter with 56.0 seconds remaining secured the win.

The Sharks had a program-record five-game winning streak snapped.

The teams meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. on Long Island, then have a pair of games in Alaska next weekend.
