Mikayla Lantto Scores Twice, Clara Kammholz Makes 23 Saves in Women's Hockey Win

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. — Mikayla Lantto scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and the LIU women's hockey team remained unbeaten in NEWHA play with a 3-1 victory against host Saint Michael's on Friday night.

Lantto staked the Sharks to a 2-0 lead late in the opening period. And after the Purple Knights pulled within a goal in the third period, Lantto scored again — restoring a two-goal cushion with 6 minutes, 9 seconds remaining in regulation.

Freshman Clara Kammholz made 23 saves en route to her second victory in two career collegiate starts.

LIU rebounded from a midweek loss to No. 12 Penn State and improved to 13-0 in conference action.

The Sharks and Purple Knights complete their two-game series on Saturday at 3:10 p.m. at Cairns Arena in Vermont.
