LINCOLN, NEB.— The LIU women's volleyball team's magical run to the NCAA tournament came to an end on Friday night when they fell to the number one overall seed Nebraska in three sets 13-25, 16-25, 22-25.
Nebraska took command early but the Sharks kept battling and were in the match until the very end. LIU almost stole the third set as it led for a majority of it. The Sharks silenced the crowd of almost 9,000 for some time but after a crazy rally late, Nebraska would capitalize and finish off the match.
Camelia Melendez led the Sharks with 12 kills,
Amaris Smith was second with eight.
Rumur Rouille had a game-high seven blocks while LIU outpaced Nebraska in blocks eight to six.
Selina Koç led the team with 11 assists followed by
Allie Merz who had nine.
Alasha Colon had a game-high fifteen digs
