BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Northeast Conference champion LIU women's volleyball team will take a trip to take Lincoln, Neb. and face off with number one seed Nebraska in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 8 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. CT. This will be the first time LIU and Nebraska ever face off.

LIU won its league-leading thirteenth Northeast Conference championship in upset fashion over number two seed FDU on Nov. 18. With their backs against the wall as the four seed, the Sharks knocked off both the one seed Sacred Heart (25-22, 31-29, 14-25, 25-22) and FDU (25-20, 21-25, 25-14, 25-13) in four sets.
Camelia Melendez was named the tournament MVP, recording a team-high 33 kills in the two matches. NEC first-team selection
Amaris Smith and NEC defensive player of the year
Alasha Colon were both named to the all-tournament team.
The match with Nebraska will be aired on ESPN+.
