NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The LIU football team blanked Central Connecticut State in the second half and rallied for a 24-23 win against the Blue Devils on Thursday night in a CBS Sports Network-televised game.
Tight end
Owen Glascoe threw another touchdown pass, this time for 15 yards to
Leak Bryant, and
Michael Coney converted the extra point to give the Sharks the decisive one-point lead late in the third quarter.
Glascoe had completed his first career touchdown pass in a win against Sacred Heart on Oct. 7.
On Thursday night, LIU began clawing back from a 23-10 halftime deficit when
Chris Howell completed a 12-yard TD pass to
Pat Bowen earlier in the quarter.
The Sharks evened their record at 2-2 in the NEC.
Davon Wells had 10 carries for 107 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Kyren Petteway had five catches for 75 yards.
On defense,
Eric O'Neill and
Antwan Spencer each had 11 tackles. O'Neill also contributed a pair of sack assists, two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry.
The Sharks return to action on Nov. 4 at Saint Francis U.
