BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The defending Northeast Conference champion LIU baseball team will open its 2023 season with a three-game series at Winthrop Feb. 17-19.
The Sharks will continue in the hospitable Southern climate for ensuing series at Kennesaw State (Feb. 24-26) and The Citadel (March 3-5) as well as a single game at Georgia Tech on Feb. 28.
Georgia Tech competed in the Knoxville regional and Kennesaw State competed in the Hattiesburg regional back in June.

LIU makes its season debut on Long Island on March 8 at Stony Brook and opens NEC play at Fairleigh Dickinson March 10-12.
The home opener arrives on March 14 when the Sharks welcome St. John's.
The NEC includes several new faces in 2023: Stonehill, which is rising from Division II, as well as associate members Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, Delaware State and Coppin State.
LIU won the NEC's regular-season and postseason titles last season and earned a berth in the Maryland regional.
The success included a pair of student-athletes being selected in the MLB draft:
EJ Exposito in the 16th round by the Atlanta Braves and
Joshua Loeschorn in the 20th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
