BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Men's soccer goalkeeper Demetri Skoumbakis earned the NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award after graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

The NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which is sponsored by the league's faculty athletics representatives, goes to the male and female student-athletes who have graduated after compiling the highest grade point average in the Conference at the conclusion of the academic calendar.
 
Skoumbakis adds yet another accolade in the classroom. In addition to Scholar Athlete of the Year, Skoumbakis was the valedictorian during the Brookville commencement last month, double majoring in mathematics and economics.
 
Skoumbakis started all 20 matches in 2021 and was named NEC Goalie of the Year. He registered 73 saves and recorded seven shutouts.
