BROOKLYN, N.Y. – For the final game of their inaugural season, the LIU men's volleyball team was at home taking on Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at noon, and finished the season with a 3-2 (25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 22-25, 15-13) victory.
 
SHARK BITES

• It all started with an ace from Luca Holanda and the first set became a close battle. The score was tied at 18-18, and again at 23-23 before the Sharks took the last two points to claim the set 25-23. A kill by Caden Satterfield and then a block from Satterfield and Jordan Cooper gave the Sharks the 1-0 match lead.
• Set two saw LIU take the lead early and hold onto it, leading 19-13 and forcing a Knights timeout. A rally that saw Mark Stapley send the ball over the net from behind the scorer's table saw the Sharks take a 23-15 lead before grabbing the 25-17 set win to lead the match 2-0.
• FDU grabbed the early lead in the third set, ahead 7-3 to start. They held onto the lead, taking it to 16-9. The Sharks had a late push, but the Knights were able to capitalize on their lead and take set three 25-22, preventing the clean three-set victory for the Sharks and forcing a fourth set.
• In the fourth set, it was all FDU from the start; they took a lead and held onto it. LIU had a late push, but an ace saw FDU take the set 25-22 and even the match at two sets a piece, sending it to a fifth set tie-breaker.
• In the fifth set, LIU had a slight edge, leading until the Knights tied it all up at 12. The Sharks took the set 15-13 and won the match 3-2.
• Satterfield and Luke Chandler each had 14 kills, Satterfield hitting .333 percent through the five sets. Giomar Collaza had 13 kills and hit .440 percent. Hasan Hadžic had 12 kills and hit .375 percent.
• Setter Luca Holanda had 24 assists while Kasey Clouet had 22.
• Libero Danny Seliger had 14 digs for the match.
