TEMPE, Ariz. – The LIU men's hockey team took on Arizona State on the road Friday evening, falling to the Sun Devils 2-1. The two teams play game two of the series Saturday, March 12 at 4:05 ET.

• Arizona State struck first Friday scoring a power play goal late in the first period.
• LIU answered at the start of the second, when PJ Marrocco scored a goal off a pass from John Gormley to tie it up, 1-1.
• Just four minutes later, the Sun Devils scored the go-ahead goal, taking a 2-1 lead.
• The Sharks would fire off 17 shots in the second period, and 11 in the third, but would not score again, as Arizona State took the win.
• Goalie Vincent Purpura made 36 saves for the Sharks, while both Carson Musser and Billy Jerry had four blocks.
• Senior Zack Bross went 14-6 on faceoffs.
