Women's Basketball Challenges Columbia, Mariah Elohim Scores Career-High 22 Points

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Head coach Rene Haynes and the LIU women's basketball team returned home to the Steinberg Wellness Center for a Tuesday night matchup against Columbia.

The Sharks put up a first half battle against the Lions and found themselves trailing 43-21 at the break. De'Asia Thomas, Cristina Bermejo and Mariah Elohim each scored five first half points. 

The second half was a back and fourth battle between LIU and Columbia. Elohim, Ashley Austin, Sydni Smith and Shyan Mwai all contributed for the Sharks.

Claire Henson also joined the scoring mix after drilling a deep three pointer to start the fourth quarter. Elohim scored a season-high 22 points and led the Sharks in scoring for the third time this season.

The Sharks fell 90-47 and are back in action December 22 at Manhattan.
