BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Fans filled the Steinberg Wellness Center on Monday for the LIU men's basketball home opener. And they were treated to an offensive outburst.
The Sharks took down Mount Saint Vincent, 111-50, to earn their first win of 2022-23.
Six players finished in double figures, and the team shot 59 percent from the floor and a scorching 17-for-31 from three-point range.
Quion Burns paced the offense in the first half, drilling five of his six three-pointers to total 15 points in 13 minutes.
Burns and
Marko Maletic each finished with 20 points to set career highs.
In his second collegiate game,
R.J. Greene collected nine points, six rebounds and six assists in 28 minutes.
The Sharks never trailed in the contest.
Among other notable performances:
Jake Cook set a career high with 16 points and chipped in five rebounds and four assists.
LIU has a quick turnaround. The Sharks will next face Marquette on Thursday.
