BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU women's volleyball team rebounded to a straight-set win against Central Connecticut State on Saturday night.
The Sharks won 25-16, 25-14, 25-20 at Steinberg Wellness Center as
Allie Merz had 28 assists and
Anastasia Scott had 23 digs.
LIU displayed a more balanced offense and competed well with its serve and passing game. The Sharks also delivered strong blocking and defensive presence behind
Rumur Rouille and Scott.
The Sharks improved to 11-11 overall and 6-4 in the NEC while rebounding from a tightly contested five-set loss to Sacred Heart the previous night.
They return to action next Friday at Saint Francis U, then play at Fairleigh Dickinson the following day.
"It was a great response to a disappointing result just the night before," coach
Ken Ko said about Saturday's win against CCSU. "I'm proud of how the team made good choices to prepare and be ready for today. I'm looking forward to a good week of improvement to prepare for a tough weekend on the road."
