Mark Named Inside Lacrosse Preseason Honorable Mention All-American

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU men's lacrosse junior Will Mark has earned preseason honorable mention All-America honors, Inside Lacrosse announced Thursday morning. Mark is one of only three players from the Northeast Conference to receive votes in the national poll, and just one of seven goalies recognized nationwide.

Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America list was voted on by a dozen media members who vote in the weekly Media Poll. Each voter selected at least three teams of players featuring three attackmen, three midfielders, a face-off specialist, two shortstick d-middies (an additional one added this year), an LSM, three defenders and a goalie. Voters were tabulated and sorted into three teams, with remaining players who received significant votes put on an honorable mention list

Mark, who has earned midseason honors and post season honors from IL, adds this recognition to his resume after a record-setting year in 2021. In his sophomore season, he became the first player in LIU's program history to be named an Inside Lacrosse Division I All-American. Additionally, he was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the country in saves per game (17.45). Mark, who has set the LIU program record for saves in a game more than once, had 30 saves in a matchup against Bryant that set the NEC single-game season-high.

In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Mark also collected 15.29 saves per game and had at least 10 or more saves in six games. He has played and started in all 18 games of his Shark career.

LIU finished the 2021 campaign 6-5 with a 5-3 record in NEC play. They open their season at Rutgers University on Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.
