BELMONT, N.C. – The LIU men's volleyball team kicked off its first-ever season heading down to North Carolina to take on Belmont Abbey in a two-game series. The Sharks and the Crusaders battled it out Monday night, with LIU falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-15).

• Junior outside hitter Jordan Cooper tallied a team-high for the Sharks on the evening with eight kills, along with a service ace and a block assist.
• Freshman setter Kasey Clouet, had a team-high 13 assists, as well as three kills and three digs.
• Freshman Luca Holanda had five assists and a dig.
• Up next, the Sharks are facing off against Belmont Abbey in the second meeting of the two-game series on January 8.
