PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The LIU volleyball team opened the 2021 Temple Invitational Friday afternoon, taking on Big Ten foe Maryland to open the tournament. The Sharks fell to the Terrapins, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21).

Jovana Stekovic led LIU with 13 kills, while freshman
Jordan Macdonald had 10, a new season high for the freshman. Sophomore setters
Ainsley Malis and
Allie Merz had 16 and 11 assists respectively. Malis also had 10 digs. Senior
Anastasia Scott led the defense with 17 digs, while freshman
Giorgia Cavalleri added eight digs.

Up next, the Sharks take on two teams Saturday. LIU opens with local rival Iona at 10:30 a.m., before facing off with the host Owls at 6 p.m. The game against Temple will be streamed no ESPN+.
