SHARKS WIN! VB Beats Jacksonville in Five-Set Thriller on Day One of Dolphin Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The LIU volleyball team had a dramatic first day at the Dolphin Classic presented by Hampton Inn East Regency Friday. The Sharks opened the day with a 3-1 loss to South Florida, 19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 27-25, but rallied in the evening matchup against host Jacksonville to win in dramatic fashion, 3-2 (30-32, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12).

In the second set, LIU jumped out to a 7-4 advantage, but USF would battle back to tie it up, 10-10. USF used a 4-0 run to tie it up, and then did so again at 24-24 and 25-25. A solo block by USF gave them match point, and a kill ended it, 27-25 for the set win, and 3-1 in the match.
