BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – On the eve of the 2021 Northeast Conference championship tournament, the league announced its 2021 All-NEC honorees, and three members of the LIU baseball team made the list.
 
Seniors Rob Griswold and Anthony Warneke earned first team All-NEC honors, and senior Cade Biddle was named All-NEC second team, as voted on by the league's coaches. It is the first postseason award for all three Sharks.
 
Griswold was lights out for the Sharks in relief, earning accolades from the conference for his work on the mound. The righty went 4-0 on the mound, along with five saves. He finished with a 0.68 ERA in 26.1 innings pitched. He finished fourth in the league in saves, and led the NEC in both appearances (16) and games finished (14).
 
Warneke, who earned first team honors in the shortstop position, was a force for both LIU on offense and defense. Defensively, he ranked in the top ten in the NEC in both assists (3rd) and fielding double plays (9th). Offensively, he finished the regular season ranked in the top 15 in the conference in stolen bases (4th), runs scored (6th) and RBI (11th).
 
Biddle was named to the second team in the outfield, after hitting .308 this season. The senior finished second in the conference in stolen bases, with 26 in the regular season. He led LIU in walks, and finished the year fourth on the team with 22 runs scored.
 
The Sharks, who finished the season with a 20-13 overall record and 18-11 in the NEC, will take on top-seeded Bryant in the first game of the NEC Championship tournament, Wednesday, May 26 at 12 p.m.
