EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Senior Ella Johnson wrote her name in the history books on the final day of the 2021 ECAC Championship Sunday. Johnson set a new meet record in the 200 butterfly, en route to the Sharks taking third place as a team.
 
LIU finished the meet with a final team score of 1085, behind Columbia and UMBC.
 
SHARK BITES

• The night opened in the 200 back, where sophomore Rea Shehu finished fifth in 2:02.60.
• LIU kept scoring points in the finals. In the 100 free, sophomore Venna Andersen came in sixth in 51.74.
• Senior Ella Johnson set a new ECAC meet record 200 fly, swimming a 2:00.73 in the finals. She beat the field by almost two seconds, and broke the record by nearly three seconds, en route to LIU's first gold medal of the meet. Freshman Annalise Stingle also qualified for the finals, and finished sixth in 2:05.35.
• LIU capped the night with a bronze in the 400 free relay – Jacqueline Grabowski, Lydia Amon, Lelah Davidson and Venna Andersen came in third in 3:28.55.
