BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU women's basketball team fought up until the final seconds of action, but fell to the Army Black Knights at home Wednesday, 74-71. The Sharks led by one with 47 seconds left, but after Army took the lead back with 31 seconds left, the Sharks couldn't seal the deal, and move to 0-7 on the season.

- LIU put up one of its most balanced offensive performances, with four players scoring in double figures.
- Freshman Danielle Grim and senior Erykah Russell led LIU with 15 points each. Russell also added six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Freshman Emaia O'Brien had 11 points, three rebounds and three assists, and was a main driver in LIU's late push, while Kennedy Taylor had 10 points, a team-high seven rebounds, and three steals.
- Freshman Tayra Eke had eight points for the Sharks, along with three assists and six blocks on defense, the highest total in her collegiate career, and the most for a Shark this season.
- Army, who was shorthanded, had four players score in double digits, led by 24 poinrs and 14 rebounds from Sabria Hunter.
- Army went 18-for-25 from the free throw line, compared to 9-for-15 for the Sharks, who had multiple players in foul trouble late in the game.
