SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The LIU volleyball team saw its 2021 season come to a close on the road Friday, falling to #2 seed Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference semifinals. The #3 seeded Sharks lost to the Pioneers in a close battle, 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18).

• LIU fought hard and stuck close with SHU throughout the contest, with every set a battle to the end.
• Senior Jovana Stekovic paced LIU with 16 kills and 15 digs in her final match as a Shark.
• Junior Karolina Nova had 12 kills, while Miranda Strongman added eight, along with two service aces.
• Junior Barbora Hoskova had 13 digs, along with two aces.
• Sophomore setter Allie Merz had 36 assists to lead LIU, along with three blocks at the net, while senior Anastasia Scott had 17 digs.
• The Sharks finish the season with a 13-14 overall record, ,and 10-4 in the NEC,
