BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU women's volleyball team extended its Northeast Conference win streak to three games Saturday afternoon, beating local rival St. Francis Brooklyn 3-1 on the road. The Sharks beat the Terriers in the Pope PE Center, 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18.
With the win, LIU moves to 7-10 overall, 4-1 in the NEC.
SHARK BITES
- LIU was led by senior Jovana Stekovic, who had 25 kills and 19 digs. Junior Karolina Nova added 17 kills and two service aces.
- On defense, senior Anastasia Scott had a team-high 23 digs.
- Sophomore setter Ainsley Malis added 36 assists and 17 digs.
- The Sharks hit .383 in the first set. LIU's defense also forced SFBK into a .195 hitting percentage in the fourth set to help clinch the win.
- SFBK moves to 5-14, 2-3 in the NEC with the loss.
- Up next, the Sharks north to take on the Nutmeg State contingent of the NEC, taking on CCSU Friday, October 15, and Sacred Heart, Saturday, October 16.
