BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU volleyball team beat local rival St. Francis Brooklyn in straight sets Saturday evening, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-19). With the win, the Sharks move to 5-3 in Northeast Conference action.

• LIU hit .263 as a team over three sets, including a scorching .423 in set two.
• At one point in set two, the Sharks rattled off ten straight points. The run was eventually extended to an 18-3 scoring spree, as LIU took a 20-8 lead.
• Jovana Stekovic and Karolina Nova led the Sharks with 12 kills each. Junior Miranda Strongman added seven kills (on a .500 hitting percentage) and a team-high five blocks.
• Sophomore setter Ainsley Malis had 16 assists, nine digs and three service aces, while classmate Allie Merz had 14 assists and seven digs.
• Anastasia Scott had a team-high 16 digs in the win.
• Up next, the Sharks host CCSU and Sacred Heart, Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30.
