BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- Paige Sherlock and
Alyssa Mallery both scored twice as the Long Island University women's lacrosse team fell to La Salle, 18-6 on Saturday afternoon.
La Salle went on an early four-goal run to take a lead they would not give up the remainder of the game. Sherlock and
Amanda Masullo had the first two looks on net for the Sharks, but both shots were saved.
Bianca Santucci got the Sharks on the board to break up the Explorers' run when she scored on a free position attempt.
Sherlock brought the Sharks within three when she sent home a pass from
Francesca Vasile-Cozzo. La Salle would score three more times before the end of the opening half.
Vasile-Cozzo connected once again with Sherlock early in the second half. Mallery scored her first goal of the game on a free position attempt. After La Salle added to their lead,
Rachel Masullo connected with her sister
Amanda Masullo. Mallery would score once more after
Sara Stephens passed to her on a free position attempt.
Vasile-Cozzo finished with a team-best two assists. Masullo and Stephens both had one.
Hailey Duchnowski made eight saves in net for the Sharks.
The Sharks head down to the Sunshine State for spring break and will take on Stetson University under the lights on Thursday, March 12. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
