LORETTO, Pa. – The LIU men's basketball team takes on one of the top teams in the Northeast Conference Sunday. The Sharks are set to square off with Saint Francis U. on the road; tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. LIU (13-15, 8-7 NEC) clinched a spot on the NEC Tournament Friday with a win over FDU, but a win over the Red Flash (18-8, 11-4 NEC) would go a long way towards clinching home court advantage.

SHARK BITES
  • The LIU men's basketball team had a late surging win Friday night in the Rothman Center, as the Sharks fended off Fairleigh Dickinson, beating the Knights, 86-81. LIU had three players with 20-point performances, led by Jermaine Jackson Jr.'s 21 points, while Raiquan Clark and Ty Flowers each had 20 points in the win.
  • Sophomore Jermaine Jackson Jr. led LIU with 21 points and five assists. The Michigan native shot 7-for-14 from the field, including 5-for-9 from three-point range.
  • Both Raiquan Clark and Ty Flowers had 20 points for LIU. Flowers also had 14 rebounds and two blocks for the Sharks.
  • Sophomore Virshon Cotton added 16 points for LIU.
  • Several Sharks are chasing milestones this season. Clark, who hit the all-time program mark on February 8th, is now chasing 2000 career points. He would be just the seventh player in NEC history to reach 2,000 career points, and the first for LIU. He needs just 53 points to hit that mark.
  • Senior Julian Batts is three points away from his 1,000th career point. He also hit the mark in high school, and would become the first player from his hometown to hit the mark on both levels.
  • Ty Flowers is also chasing membership to the 1,000-point club. Flowers currently needs 11 points to hit the career mark.
  • Last time these two teams faced off in January, the Sharks came out on top in Brooklyn, 86-81. Clark, Jackson and Flowers all scored 20+ points in that victory as well.
  • Up next, LIU returns home to host Wagner for Senior Night, Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m.
