Day One Results
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The LIU women's swimming team sits in third place overall after day one at the 2020 Northeast Conference championship meet. The Sharks scored 62 points in just two events to kick off the four-day meet at Nassau County Aquatics Center.
In the first event of the night, the Sharks finished fourth in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Amanda Peren,
Tara Cabiling,
Jacqueline Grabowski and
Noemie Lacroix-Moreau hit the wall in 1:43.72, just three tenths of a second away from medaling.
LIU earned the first medal of the weekend in the 800 free relay, as the squad of Lacroix-Moreau,
Amanda San Juan,
Jeanne Touchette-McGowan and Peren came in third. Peren swam a 1:48 anchor leg to help LIU close the gap, and finish with a time of 7:28.76.
The B relay squad, though not allowed to score points, finished with a top 8 time as well. The team of
Reyna Iwamoto,
Mackenzie Burnett,
Macie Madden and
Emily Shoup swam a 7:51.82, which would have been good for eighth overall.
Both relay teams qualified for the CSAA National Invitational with their times.
The Sharks are back in action Thursday, February 20, for day two of the meet. Preliminaries will take place during the day, with the finals starting at 6 p.m.
