ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Molly Meyers scored two goals three minutes apart from each other, and
Kenzie Harmison made a career-high 38 saves, but the Long Island University women's ice hockey team fell to Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-2 in overtime on Saturday evening.

The Sharks had an early power play opportunity where Meyers took advantage, sending a shot home off the initial faceoff.
Abby Latorella and
Megan Bouveur assisted on the first goal. Just three minutes later, Meyers scored her second goal of the game, giving the Sharks a two-goal advantage.
Paula Bergström and
Elissa Taylor had the assists on Meyers' second goal.
Mia McLeod made the start in net, and saved all 12 shots she faced in the first period.

The Tigers came out of the first intermission strong, scoring within the first two minutes of the second period. RIT continued to press and broke through once more, tying the game at two all just three minutes later.
Kenzie Harmison came in midway through the second, and made nine saves in the period. McLeod finished with 18 saves.

Offensively, LIU had some chances on net in the third period, but were unable to get one passed the Tigers' goaltender. The Sharks held off an attacking Tigers offense as Harmison made 27 saves in the third period, keeping the score tied at two and sending the game to overtime.

The Sharks opened up the overtime period killing off a Tigers' power play. Latorella and
Carrigan Umpherville each took a shot in overtime, both of which were saved. The Tigers were able to put the puck in the back of the net to take game one of the two game series. Â Â Â

Harmison's 38 saves came in just 28 minutes in net. Defensively, the Sharks finished with a season-high 26 blocked shots.

The Sharks finished the game with 20 shots.
Stella Scott took a team-best five shots, and Umpherville was right behind her with four.
Alva Johnsson took three shots, while Matila af Bjur, Latorella, and Meyers each took two.
Linn Thomsen and Bouveur each took one shot.

The Sharks return to the Gene Polisseni Center tomorrow, December 15, to close out the weekend series against the Tigers. Puck drop is slated for 2:00 p.m.
