Layla Behzadian returns for her fourth year as the volunteer assistant coach for the LIU women's water polo program in 2023.
Behzadian played high school water polo for Riverside Arlington and won a state championship with Riverside City College before receiving her degree from California Baptist University. A water polo coach for the Riverside Water Polo and Orange County Riptides age group clubs in Southern California, as well as Tualatin Hills club in Portland Oregon, she also refereed for three years with the Oregon Water Polo Association and USA Water Polo.
From 2013-15, Behzadian worked for USA Water Polo as a Membership & Events Manager, where—among other duties—she coordinated event logistics for a number of high-profile USAWP events, including the national Junior Olympics. She currently works as an account manager and resides in Brooklyn with her husband Mike, son Emmett, and dog Phoebe.
