Sharks Celebrate NY Knicks Alumni Night with Win Over Le Moyne

LIU scores 45 points in the first half in 22-point home win

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Long Island University men's basketball team (13-8, 7-1 NEC) celebrated New York Knicks Alumni Night with a win over Le Moyne College on Thursday, taking down the Dolphins 83-61 inside the Steinberg Wellness Center.

LIU scored 45 points over the first 20 minutes of action, taking a 10-point lead into the locker room at halftime. During the intermission, the LIU men's basketball program honored 2013 Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and former New York Knick Bernard King.

King, a 2010 LIU honorary alumnus and a Brooklyn native, was a four-time all-NBA selection, a four-time NBA all-star, and the 1984-85 NBA scoring champion, when he averaged 32.9 points per game.

The Sharks locked down on the defensive end in Thursday's second half, holding the Dolphins to just 26 points over the final 20 minutes en route to an 83-61 win over Le Moyne, avenging a prior defeat to the Dolphins less than two weeks ago on Jan. 19.

Graduate student Jamal Fuller led all scorers with 19 points, while junior Jomo Goings (16 points), junior Mason Porter-Brown (16), redshirt senior Malachi Davis (14), and sophomore Shadrak Lasu (10) all finished in double figures. Senior Greg Gordon led LIU with eight rebounds and eight assists, while Lasu totaled five blocks in the win.

LIU travels to Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. Saturday's game will be televised on ESPNU.
