Smithfield, R.I. — The defending NEC champion Sharks opened their 2025 season with a 1-1 tie against Bryant on Thursday night.
 
Starting their campaign on the road, LIU found themselves down 1-0 at halftime but quickly bounced back after the break. Jack Stainrod (assisted by Londell Wheeler and Maximilian Sommer) scored his first goal of the season at the 61:38 mark of regulation, tying the score and ensuring the Sharks secured a 1-1 draw for the game.
 
LIU will return to the field on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m., visiting UMass Lowell.
