Fairfield, Conn. — LIU defeated Fairfield 9-6 in a road victory on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sharks' offense was led by an array of strong contributors across the board, with
Jacob Pipercic starting things off with a bang in the form of a lead-off home run. Doing their damage early, LIU scored in three of the game's first four innings to amass a 9-0 lead by the fourth.
Max Samson and
Ryan Rivera paced LIU with a pair of perfect 3-for-3 performances. Samson's day included a two-RBI double in the third, and Rivera scored two runs and had an RBI sacrifice fly as LIU got things going in the first.
Benjamin Fierenzi went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, and
Noah Sorensen also drove in two as part of a 2-for-5 day. Pipercic finished the game batting 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
LIU will begin its last series of the regular season against conference opponent Stonehill, taking the field next on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m.
