BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU picked up a 7-3 win over Coppin State on Sunday, putting the finishing touches on a weekend series victory after winning two out of three against the conference opponent.
 
The Sharks set the tone early, driving home three runs in each of the first two innings. Noah Sorensen helped his team score their first runs of the game with a two-RBI double and Tyler Benick also drove in one with a sacrifice fly in the first. The second inning then featured a two-run blast by Jack Power, marking his NEC-leading (tied) fourteenth home run of the season.
 
Elsewhere on offense, Jacob Pipercic went 1-for-4 with three runs scored after also earning a walk and reaching on an error.
 
Nicholas Finarelli earned his eighth win of the season after holding Coppin State to three runs in five innings pitched. Evan Panjwani, Nicolas Benhardt, and RJ Latkowski combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to help LIU close the door on the win.
 
LIU will return to the field on Tuesday, May 13 to take on Fairfield at 3:30 p.m.
