ERIE, Pa. — Ava Taylor scored a game-high five goals and
Erin Harkins recorded a game-high seven points as LIU defeated Mercyhurst 19-9 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 4-1 in NEC play.
Taylor netted four of her goals in the first half, sparking a 12-0 run for the Sharks. Harkins completed her hat trick before halftime, helping LIU build a commanding 13-3 lead at the break.
Selia Lyons added a pair of second-half goals to push LIU ahead 15-5 in the third quarter. Lyons finished with three goals and two assists.
Harkins scored LIU's 16th goal of the game and closed out the contest with a game-high seven points (four goals, three assists).
Julia Trainor,
Pierson Schuchart, and
Alexa Nuzzi each contributed two goals each in LIU's sixth win of the season.
Lindsey Lucia also found the back of the net for the Sharks.

Mylie Norton stopped seven shots and earned her sixth win of the season.
LIU returns home to host CCSU on Wednesday at 3 p.m., followed by a Saturday matinee against Stonehill at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
