BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU secured a 12-2 win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday, capping its second victory of the day's double header while extending its current win straight to six straight.
Justin DeCastro was the second Sharks pitcher of the day to toss a complete game following Garett Yawn's game-one shutout. DeCastro pitched all of the game's seven innings, striking out six while surrendering two runs.
Benjamin Fierenzi propelled LIU's offense, going 2-for-3 with a team-leading three RBI in the contest.
Ryan Rivera also put together a special performance, hitting a home run and a triple for the Sharks.
Max Samson led his team in hits in a 3-for-4 day with two runs scored, and
Joseph Durso and
Jarod Wade drove in two runs apiece as LIU kept the pressure on all afternoon long, scoring in each of the game's innings but the first. Once the hits began in the second inning, the runs kept flowing for the Sharks.
The Sharks and UMES will play one more, taking the field on Sunday, April 27 at 12 p.m.
