BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU's winning ways continued Sunday as the Sharks extended their current winning streak to seven with a 10-2 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Starting pitcher
Nicholas Finarelli struck out seven while tossing five innings, surrendering just two earned runs.
Ryan Rivera excelled, leading LIU with three hits in a 3-for-4 performance. The junior drove in one run, but he certainly wasn't alone in propelling LIU's offense.
Max Samson drove in two, scored two runs, and walked once as part of a 1-for 4 day, and
Benjamin Fierenzi also scored twice and had a pair of RBI, marking his third straight game driving in a run.
Jack Power,
Noah Sorensen, and
Mason Breton all pitched in with 2-for-4 outings, driving in one run apiece as well for LIU.
While Finarelli set the tone on the mound to start the game, LIU had strong relief outings from
RJ Latkowski, who struck out three and allowed no hits through three innings, and
Evan Panjwani, who pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
LIU now owns an 18-3 record, including 12-3 at home.
The Sharks will return to the field on Wednesday, April 30, visiting Army at 4:30 p.m.
